Do You Believe God Is the Creator of All?
God created the heavens and the earth. Is there any statement that is clearer about how all things began than this?
As Christians, the vast majority of us put our faith in the teachings of the Bible. We accept that Jesus died for our sins, that we have gained eternal life through his death on the cross, and that God performed wondrous miracles, including dividing the Red Sea, raising Lazarus from the dead, and making a donkey talk.
The Bible makes it clear that Yahweh is an amazing God who can do anything. Genesis 1 begins by telling us of the amazing miracle that God performed to create all of the universe.
What is so impressive about this is that in all the amazing, vast creation, God spent even more time on the fine details. Consider that on the first day He created the heavens and the earth. All the stars, planets, supernovas, pulsars, meteors, moons, and everything else in the universe came to be in just one day.
Although the earth was created on the first day, it was over the next five days when He would create such things as the sun and moon, the separation of the fluids that make up the waters and the air, plants and all other vegetation, all of the animals, bacteria, fungus, and all other living organisms that make up our planet.
God wanted to make sure that the earth was truly something special, and that is why He spent so much time on the fine details of our planet. It is important to consider this, because there is an important teaching here.
Many of you who will read this will be enduring incredible hardships. You may have lost a loved one, suffered a layoff at your job, or you are battling through a crisis which has you feeling that you simply cannot go on.
You are frustrated, angry, and maybe even to the point of wanting to give up. You want to turn to God, to seek His help, but you refuse for one of the most common reasons I hear: “God isn’t interested in my piddle little problems.”
This is one of the biggest lies that Satan tells us. That our problems are simply of no consequence to God and that He has far more important things on His mind. Don’t believe in that lie.
Psalm 139:18 explains that if you were to count the number of times that God thought of you that it would outnumber the grains of sand on the earth. If you lived to be 60 years old, that would be nearly two billion seconds of time. Think of how many grains of sand there on the beaches of the earth. There are likely to be two billion grains at a small beach near a lake. If you put them all together it would be a number that would be far too big to even fathom.
18 Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand—
when I awake, I am still with you. – Psalm 139:18
What that means is that God thinks of us, each one of us, billions and billions of times per second. We are not just in His thoughts; He is literally obsessed with us and has so much love and concern for each of us that He simply does not want to stop thinking of each one of us.
You see, just as God spent five times more on the fine details of the earth than he did on the whole universe, this is how our Father sees you. He is still continuously working on the fine details of you. He is looking to transform you and to sand off the rough edges to reveal the beautiful diamond that you are to Him.
The story of creation shows us that there is no detail to God that is insignificant. It also shows us that there is nothing about each one of us that is insignificant or trivial to our Father in Heaven. He cares about every aspect of our lives. Every detail is important to Him and every part of who we are means something to Him. After all – He created each one of us.
The truth is that each one of us has burdens that could use the Lord’s intervention, and it is important that we share those burdens with our brothers and sisters. My friend Gary Wirta used to say, “Share a burden and cut it half; share a joy and double it.” Now is your chance to do just that.
At Bridge to Freedom Ministries we want to pray for you. Please visit our prayer request page and share your requests, your burdens, and your challenges. Your brothers and sisters would love to pray for you and to take your requests to the Lord on your behalf.
Consider one last thing. Instead of looking at your request as something that is too small for God to worry about, consider all that He created. All of the stars, planets, elements, animals, plants, and every other thing that exists throughout the universe was created by Him. If He is the one that can make all that, isn’t He also the One who can fix or resolve any challenge you have?
